What membership types are available?

Any company that collects secondhand clothing and shoes, purchases credential clothing or provides goods and services to the industry, may be eligible to become a member of the association. Provided that it meets the standards for certification and or membership as set forth by ACBO and pays the membership fee.

Who can be a member?

NO, ABCO is a proud social organization with a strong philanthropic and environmental foundation. ACBO is an independent third party that provides an in-depth vetting and certification process that separates its members from the nefarious ones while providing people with a meaningful, trustworthy, and convenient way to discard their unwanted clothes and shoes and do so in a respectful and productive way.

Is ABCO a nonprofit?

The Association of Certified Bin Operators, LLC, officially launches both its association website and its public FindaBin.com zip code web-locator to the public in September 2022. It has taken nearly 2 years of due diligence, discovery, and industry focus groups, to create an association specifically for the betterment secondhand collection industry and those who donate.

When was the ACBO formed?

The Association of Certified Bin Operators (ACBO) is the official certification platform for the textile/second-hand clothing collections industry. Serving the entire United States and Canada, ACBO officially certifies and promotes both private sector and nonprofit organizations in the clothing collections industry.

What are the qualifications for Operators?
  • Create a username and password

  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Review and agree to all mandatory documents

  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Complete the application in full and submit all required documents

  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Allow for 5 to 10 business days for an approval response

  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Upon approval pay 50% of the certification membership annual fee

  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​You will be granted full access to the member sign-in area

  • ​Input your site locations to the provided interface and pay the remaining balance of the membership​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

  • ​Your locations will then be automatically listed on the national FindAbin.com web locator and certified Location decals will be sent out

What is the process for Operators?
  1. Payment - You’ll need to sign the Member Agreement and make the minimum required a 50% deposit, via ACH, bank wire, or credit card, which is based on the number of bins or site locations you currently have multiplied by the yearly per bin or location fee (You may pay in full as well) The balance will be due after you have inputted all your locations.

  2. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Admin Interface - You will then be provided special login instructions to the ACBO’s Member Administrator Interface which allows you to input all your locations. This is where you will have full control of adding and subtracting locations. (If you add new locations, you must pay an additional Per location fee).

  3. ​Individual Web Locator – In addition to your listing on ACBO’s national FindAbin.com website, ACBO offers your organization its own zip code web locator. (Free of charge) This enables you to place your own zip code locator on your website and social media platforms. (This personalized site locator will only show your locations, no other members’ locations will be shown.)​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

  4. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Final step - Once you have inputted all your site information, the balance of your yearly agreement will be due in full. Upon receipt of your payment, all your locations will show up on the official www.FindAbin.com website, and your organization listed as a good-standing member. ACBO will immediately send you your current year Certified Location/Approved Member (CLD) decals, via Priority Mail. (Please note members MAY NOT display the CLD decals if not an active member nor can display an out-of-date CLD) See ABCO’s terms and conditions
